About Jazz Dance with Heidi
You will start each class through a guided warm-up and stretch, and then learn a piece of fun choreography.
Some weeks we dance to my own choreography. Other weeks we try moves made famous from movies, shows, or music videos we all know and love. This is all done in a fun and supportive atmosphere. And because it’s a drop-in class, each week we learn a new routine to a different song. Miss a class? You won’t fall behind because we’ll all be starting something new each week. This format works nicely for those who’ve been afraid to sign up for dance classes because they may have to miss class some weeks. Students will still develop and improve their dance skills and increase their ability to learn and remember choreography.
Students should dress for movement and stretching. Everyone must bring a pair of shoes to change into at the studio (no wearing your shoes off the street in the studio!). Jazz shoes, ballet slippers, dance sneakers, and dance paws work well. If you like to dance barefoot, I recommend bringing socks to wear so your feet don’t stick to the floor if there are turns or pivots in the choreography.
